Sacha Hibbitt
I joined Anthony Collins as a legal assistant in the personal injury and clinical negligence team in May 2019 and started my training contract with the firm in August 2022.
I was clear when I left university that I wanted to use my legal skills to benefit the marginalised in society and so I was drawn to Anthony Collins because of their values in helping improve lives, communities, and society. It’s clear to me that these values are shared by everyone at the firm, no matter their specialism.
I was struck by the level of responsibility given to trainees, and I knew that this was one of the reasons I wanted to train with the firm. Every department makes a concentrated effort to include the trainee in all aspects of work, to give them a true experience of life as a qualified solicitor in that area of law. You are invited to client meetings, networking and social events and you get firsthand experience advising clients and completing complex work. It means that your trainee experience truly prepares you for life as an NQ and beyond.
The training contract is run very well, with lots of support provided by your fellow trainees, the HR team, your trainee buddy, your trainee manager and appraiser, and the trainee principal to help you navigate the process. Everyone is very approachable and always happy to help.
I completed seats in projects, employment and pensions, PPM Court of Protection and personal injury and clinical negligence. The positive experience in each department made the decision about where to qualify very difficult, but I am due to start as a newly qualified solicitor in the personal injury and clinical negligence department in August/September 2024. I am confident that the high levels of well-being and support that I received in my training contract will continue as an NQ and throughout my career.
